Container Homes for Affordable Housing

Feb. 22, 2024

A container house company aims to get people into home ownership and ease the housing crisis.

According to a study by the Real estate and analytics firm, home prices are expected to rise across the United States through 2024. The economists said in the study that "this continued strength remains remarkable in the face of a national affordability squeeze, but also illustrates how pent-up demand is driving home prices higher."

According to market research firm Actionable market Insights, the container home business is expected to grow to more than $67 billion this year. The company said the growth was "attributed to sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings, affordable housing solutions, urban and population density, building trends and aesthetics, construction speed and efficiency." They note that the container housing market is "expected to see strong growth" in the coming years, with the industry expected to exceed $84 billion by 2028.

Potential buyers need to check local zoning laws before buying a container home, as some areas may not allow it, while others may not have specific regulations and think it will be a challenge, such as the city of Fairfield.

In Hamilton, the planning director said there is nothing specific about container shipments in the city's zoning code, so they are allowed. However, the materials need to meet the city's design standards, which include veneers, such as siding or brick, that may require changes by the planning Commission.

Ultimately, our goal is home ownership for every family!
